Margaret Ann Payne, 95, of the 3300 block of Daystone Arch, Chesapeake, VA, passed away August 3, 2010, in a local hospital. A native of Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie Thomas, and the widow of Oscar Payne. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Bartholomew; her son, Rudolph Thomas and wife Kessanee; her grandchildren, Linda Howard and husband James, Brenda Thomas and husband Robert, Cynthia Dunman, Camille Bartholomew, Leatha Holliday, Donald Rogers, Dwayne Rogers and wife Lisa, Van Thomas and wife Michelle, Mark Thomas and wife Angela, Anthony Thomas and David Rogers and wife Meaza; twenty great grandchildren; and a host of great great-grandchildren; and one niece, Patricia Briscoe. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel with Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
