I have enormous gratitude to Mrs. Brown and her great generosity to me, as she took the trouble to include me in so many swim trips to the Naval Air Base in Willow Grove--remembering that big, round swimming pool. I remember thinking she was such a strong, organized mom who moved in next door with her mom, Mrs. Flaherty. She took care of her four kids so well, and was so courageous. I have enormous gratitude to Mrs. Brown and her great generosity to me, as she took the trouble to include me in so many swim trips to the Naval Air Base in Willow Grove--remembering that big, round swimming pool. I remember thinking she was such a strong, organized mom who moved in next door with her mom, Mrs. Flaherty. She took care of her four kids so well, and was so courageous. She also had a fabulous smile and hearty laugh, and was just, enthusiastic. She was one of the women who influenced me about the kind of mom to be. I appreciated the way she said things clearly to her kids, my friends, Kennie, Bobby, Kathie and Cristobel(as I remember her calling him.)

She also showed such consistent strength when Kathie was diagnosed with diabetes, and the devasatating loss it was when Kathie died, when she just appeared to be stabilizing after so many years of struggle.

It is with great sadness, that I consider that I did not stay in touch with her and let her know more about how grateful I was to her. To Chris, Jimmy and Joe, and the family members I do not know, I extend my sincere sympathy, about her passing and also learning about Ken and Bob's deaths as well. You are a good family. I was lucky to live next door to Mrs. Flaherty and know all of you.
