Margaret Marie Otteni passed from this life Tuesday, January 10, 2012, after a short illness. She was born September 3, 1919, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Charles and Margaret Mechenbier, the fourth child in a family of ten children. On April 8, 1942, she married the love of her life, Leo Otteni. He preceded her in death September 28, 2006. They moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 1948 where they raised their five children. They remained active at Our Lady of Fatima Church their entire lives. Margaret was always proud of her husband and his accomplishments, but we know in our hearts that behind that successful man was a strong, intelligent, persevering wife. Margaret loved a good time, golf, bridge, and a bargain. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Joan and Frank Nordstrum, Lee and Diana Otteni, Ken and Tina Otteni, Mary Jane and John Hall, Elaine and Ed Cebula, her grandchildren: Lisa Sheppard, Chris Nordstrum, Becky Otteni, Carol Vencill, and her great grandchildren: Emma and Leo Sheppard, Myles Nordstrum, Tyler, Leah, Bryant, and Emily Vencill, her brothers: Norbert and Bernard Mechenbier and her sisters: Mercedes Ray and Vera Mae Gardiner. Margaret resided just over three years at Atria Vista Del Rio where she served as an ambassador and also became a vibrant member of that retirement community. The family thanks all the employees of Atria for their tender and kind care always provided to Margaret. Rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 7:00 PM. Thursday, January 12th. Mass will be offered Friday, January 13th, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Casa Angelica, 5629 Isleta Blvd. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105.
