Margaret Needles Williams, formerly of New Vernon, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010, in Maplewood. She was 91. Mrs. Williams was born on October 11, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo. She was the daughter of Col. Enoch R. and Ethel S. Needles. She graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in economics in 1942. She married Herbert Philip Williams on November 18, 1944 and was his devoted wife for 62 years. They raised five children in Madison, and later in New Vernon. They sailed in the British Virgin Islands on their boat "Early Bird," and were members of Morris County Golf Club since 1952. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, who passed away on March 13, 2007. She passed away on what would have been their 66th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elma Wight; and her brother, Thomas Needles. She is survived by five children, Wendy Baldwin of Tallahassee, Fla., Barbara Dunn of Lexington, Ky., JoAnne Coutrakon of Livermore, Ca., Philip N. Williams of Mendham, and David A. Williams of Gladstone; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary McJunkin of Charleston, W.Va., Carolyn Homer of Kennebunk Beach, Me., and Sally Toffey of Vero Beach, Fla. She lived a full life surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 95 Old Short Hills Rd., West Orange, NJ 07052.
