Mrs. Margaret "Marge" R. Curtis, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday November 2, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. She was born February 9, 1926 in Huntington, Indiana, the daughter of Herman Lewis and Winifred (Smith) Lewis. She has lived in the La Porte area for over 50 years coming from Huntington. Margaret was a homemaker and vice president of Curtis Refrigeration. She retired in 1987. She was a member of Door Village United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Friends of the Library and a mentor of the HOSTS Program. She was an avid book reader, huge Purdue basketball fan, and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. On March 30, 1946, in La Porte IN, she married Arnold Curtis who preceded her in death August 10, 1994. She is survived by her son - Larry (Gayle) Curtis of La Porte, IN; daughter - Sally (Bob) Kievert of Lemont, IL; 4 Grandchildren - Matthew (Angela) Curtis of Lafayette, IN, Andrew Curtis of Modesto, CA, Nathan Kievert of Lemont, IL, Zak Kievert of Lemont, IL; sister - Mary Lou Riley of La Porte, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister - Virginia Smith, and brother - Robert Lewis. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm & at the church on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Services will be held at Door Village United Methodist Church, Friday November 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Billy Nickrand officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Door Village United Methodist Church, 3502 W. Joliet Rd., La Porte, IN.; Handley School HOSTS Program, 408 W. 10th St., La Porte, IN; or American Heart Association, in care of the Haverstock Funeral Home.
