Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret M. Sunderbruch, 96, a resident of Bettendorf will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 – 18th Street, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport with a 4:00 prayer service to begin visitation. There will be an additional visitation on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 at the church. Mrs. Sunderbruch passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Margaret Mary Murphy was born September 8, 1915 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of George R. and Theresa M. (Hasenstab) Murphy. She was united in marriage to Arthur T. Sunderbruch on September 22, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death September 24, 1980.

Margaret received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Dubuque. She worked as a private duty nurse and at Mercy Hospital, Davenport in later years, she worked with her husband in their business Sunderbruch Insurance Agency.

Mrs. Sunderbruch was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Catholic Women's League, Serra Club and the Redemptorist Seminary family. She began volunteering at the young age of 10 and had been very active in the church throughout the years and was a past president of AHS Parents Club.

Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or Birthright.

She is survived by her children and spouses; Mary Ann (John) Kennedy, Ottawa, IL, Dr. Robert (Kathy) Sunderbruch, Muscatine, IA, Joan Wysoske, Bettendorf, Jane (Dave) Wilson, Utica, IL and Joseph (Bobbi) Sunderbruch, Bettendorf; a daughter-in-law Gala Sunderbruch, Bettendorf; 11 loving grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Anne (Edwin) Frankfurt and Rita Finley, all of Pittsburg, PA; 2 sisters-in-law, Rosemary Murphy, Pittsburg, PA and Beverly Murphy, Desert, CA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son Arthur "Chip" Sunderbruch in 2006, a sister Veronica McLaughlin, and 3 brothers John Murphy, Edward Murphy and George Murphy.
