Margarette Delphine Adams
Margarette Delphine Adams was born in Winthrop, Arkansas. She moved to Texarkana, Arkansas, where she married Morris Adams. In 1950 they moved to Dallas, Texas. NASA’s MSFC brought them to Huntsville, to design and build its local headquarters. The Christian community soon discovered their spirituality, resulting in the building of many churches. Margarette and Morris were devout Christians. Margarette was active in the local, district, and conference organization of United Methodist Women. She was also on the Board of Discipleship in Nashville, TN. She was a charter and active member at Grace United Methodist Church She also served in the Gideons’ auxiliary, supporting her husband in his ministry there. She served on the board of the “Chessie Harris Foundation” She completed the “Walk to Emmaus” in 1982. Margarette and Morris were known throughout the world as “Mama” and “Papa”. Morris and her step-son, Bud, preceded her in death.Survivors include a son, Charles Adams and wife Sandra Kay; a daughter, Betty and husband Danny Edmonds; grand-children Sherry Lynn Adams, Stacy Pepper, Heath Adams, Jerry Neal and Monique Harrison; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 pm at Grace United Methodist Church in Madison. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 pm until 2 pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Gideons International.
