Our beloved "Ama" Margarita C. Meza, 79, of Oxnard, died peacefully at home on Jan. 31, 2011, following a lengthy illness. She was born March 10, 1931 in Auburn, Calif.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo Meza (1982) of Oxnard; sons, Roger (1981) and Ralph (1979) of Oxnard; brothers, Manuel Calderon, Jr. and Hector Rosales; sister, Celia Calderon; parents, Manuel Calderon and Maria Esther Rosales, all from El Paso, Texas.

She was a generous, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She enjoyed her pet birds, especially "Ray" her grey African parrot, which talked and watched TV late into the night with her. She will enormously be missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by sons, Juan Antonio (Bertha) Meza, David Meza; daughters, Maria aka Muneca (Chiquita) Meza, Sylvia (Rudy) Garcia, and Gracie (Armando) Ruvalcaba; 27 grandchildren (she fondly raised: Margie (Robert) Nava; twins: Rita (Alex) Flores, Rosa Meza; and Mark Anthony Meza); 46 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Durn, Hortencia (Gregorio) Aceves, and Bertha Rosales all from El Paso, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to give a big, sincere "thank you" to: Dr. Sanping Wang; Dr. Gulnar Poorsattar; Dr. Robert O. Valdez; Dr. "T" and staff at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital-Wound Center in Camarillo; Salvador Martinez from Professional Home Care Services; and especially to Rosanne Duarte for assisting and referring VITAS Hospice Care (nurses: Joy, Barbara, and Dawn) who made her last days peaceful ones.

A vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, at the Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H St., Oxnard, CA 93036; visitation will begin at 4 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H St., Oxnard, CA 93036; followed by interment at the Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery.
