I know we haven't been in touch for many years, but I share your grief. I lost my sister many years ago and I've never forgotten what it was like. I can only tell you that it does get better with time. I've never forgotten her--she lives in my heart.

Grandma was such an amazing lady. Like the rest of the family, she always seemed to have a smile on her face. When her granddaughter and I started to become as close as sisters, the whole family took me in like their own, even Grandma. At the 50th Anniversary party for her and her husband, I had an emotional break down. My Papa had passed not too long before this and I was extremely sad that my own grandparents would never celebrate such an occasion. But Grandma hugged me and told me she was blessed for the life she had and everything would be ok in mine. She was right. I've lost a lot of people in my short 18 years, and it never gets any easier. Heaven is full to the brim with amazing people. I hope they're all up there partying the new year away! I love you, Grandma.

Over my year's our family traditions have pretty much been the same for just about every holiday, but New Year's day has changed over the years. I thought it would be a good idea to write a favorite New Year's memory as today is the last day of this year! Over my year's our family traditions have pretty much been the same for just about every holiday, but New Year's day has changed over the years. We have always spent the day together, laughing, eating, playing games, being silly, but the location and groups of people has varied through the years. My very earliest memory of how our family would spend New Year's Day was to travel around from one relative's house to the next and have a different "course" of our day at each person's house. I remember it like it was yesterday! This year we will be celebrating New Year's very differently, but I know my mom would love the fun that we will be having!! I love you mom and I miss you VERY much!!! Happy New Year!!!

Mrs Madigan was and always will be one of the most beautiful Earth angels I have ever been lucky enough to cross paths with. When my own father had no love in his heart for me, she took me in and loved me, and shared with me love that I had never known existed until I met her and the whole Madigan family. I felt a part of it all, loved, cared for and created memories that have lasted with me forever. I'd sit in her sewing room for hours just chatting it up, sharing tidbits of how to sew and what she was sewing for whom. She even let me collect little squares of the garbage remnants, which I still have to this very day. I had the greatest of ideas to cover my favorite ripped up blue jeans entirely in patches and though she thought I was so silly, she allowed me to sit there and talk her ear off and collect my patches. When I drink my tea (or coffee) I am reminded how she's hold her tea cup up to her forehead to sooth her headaches. Her ladder on her Christmas tree, how she decorated for every season and loved everyone that came into her life. I can't say thank you enough to her and the whole Madigan clan for the love they offered to me and shared with me unconditionally.
