Marguerite J. Dean, 88, passed away March 17, 2011. A native of Newfoundland, Canada, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Lloyd Dean, and was born to the late Edward and Mary (Noah) Faour in St. John's, Newfoundland. She grew up and was educated in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. After taking a business course she moved to Argentia, a US Naval Base in Newfoundland during WW11 where she met her husband Raymond. While in her 20's, Marguerite, a lifelong loyal "Newfie", was nonetheless drawn to explore, and ended up moving to the states, landing a job in NYC. In 1953 she finally married the love of her life, Raymond, whom she affectionately always referred to as "Diz". In 1956 she became a naturalized citizen of the US, one of the proudest moments of her life. In 1957 they started a family and moved often: California, Georgia, Newfoundland, New York and Pennsylvania before finally settling in Virginia Beach in 1966. She lived the last 45 yrs of her life in the same house in Little Neck. Marguerite was the heart and soul of her family; a traditional housewife who tirelessly worked all the details required to raise 5 kids. Her most cherished qualities were her friendliness to everyone, her positive spirit, and great sense of humor. Lately she was heard to say: "don't worry when I'm gone, I lived a great life." Her family and friends will miss her immeasurably. Marguerite is survived by five children, John and wife Lisa, Russell and wife Barbara, Janice, Deirdre and David; a brother, Daniel (Freida) Faour; seven grandchildren, Raymond, Stephanie, Karlie, Samantha, Lindsey, Noah and Deanna. A funeral mass will be held Monday, March 21 at 12 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Joe Clark officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church funeral ministry. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
