Born in Craiova, Romania to Dumitru Popescu, head of the Romanian Orthodox church of their province, and Elena Staaiculescu, and came to New York in 1950. She resided in NYC, Flemington, NJ, Houston, TX, Pagosa CO, Santa Fe NM and La Jolla, CA, where she died of natural causes. She was married to Philip A. Sayles Jr. and is survived by her daughter Carina C. Sayles and her grandchildren Wells and Olivia Hartman. She was a member of the Daughters of the King of the Episcopal Church and active in the Institute for International Education, the Houston Ballet, the Alley Theater, and the Santa Fe Museum of Art.
