Maria Sophia (Johnson) Murphy August 21, 1963- January 13, 2012 Maria Murphy, 48, of Camas, Washington was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with Lupus. Maria was a 1981 graduate of Mount Vernon High school in Mount Vernon, Washington. She studied animal science at Washington State University in Pullman. Maria worked as a realtor in Clark County and helped her husband build homes. She loved being a mother and was an incredible homemaker. She was able to find beauty in the simplest things and loved to surround her family with that beauty. She enjoyed cooking and baking with her daughter Anna by her side. Maria was an avid scrapbooker, a gifted crafter and home decorator. She was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas and her faith never wavered during a long and difficult illness. Maria is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Chris Murphy, her daughter, Anna Marie, father Rudy Johnson, mother Elvera DeBaca, grandmother, Priscilla Johnson, brother Rudy Johnson, sister in law Tracy Johnson, and nephews Kyle and Nicholas. She will also be missed by many extended family and friends. There will be a closed casket visitation at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas, WA on Tuesday the 17th from 2 PM until 4:30 PM followed by a Rosary service at 7 PM at St. Thomas Church in Camas. The funeral mass will be Wednesday, January 18, at 11am at St. Thomas with burial to follow at the Camas Cemetery.
