Maria del Carmen Gonzalez, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, December 9, 2011.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Gonzales; daughter, Mary Agnes Zakrajsek; grandson, Zachary Gonzalez; granddaughters, Samantha Gonzalez, and Melissa Quiroz.
Carmen is survived by her children, Rosemary Maldonado (Eustroberto), Dolores Quiroz (Frank), Mariana Mendez (Sixto), Robert S. Gonzalez (Esthela), Manuel T. Gonzalez (Mary Jane), Benedict Gonzalez (Laura), Margarita Gonzalez, and Martin Gonzalez (Kathy); son-in-law, Michael Zakrajsek; siblings, Rachel Gonzales, Henrietta Gonzales (Juan), and Benito Torres (Evangelina); 34 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous other nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her caretaker, Karla Portello.
Visitation will be held at Crespo Funeral Home-Navigation Chapel on Sunday, December 11, 2011, from 4-9 PM, with a Rosary being recited at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be held the following morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Historic Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carmen's honor to the American Cancer Society. www.cancer.org
