Marian Y. (Speer) Pritchard, 85, of Waterloo, died on June 13, 2010 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born on March 19, 1925 in Buckingham, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Virlea (Mitchell) Speer. She was raised in Geneseo Township and graduated from Geneseo Consolidated High School in 1942. On June 29, 1946, Marian was united in marriage to Harold Pritchard. They made their home and farmed near Buckingham for 50 years. Upon retirement they moved to Waterloo. Marian worked in the offices of Rath Packing until she was married. She was a member of Geneseo United Methodist Church. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Luke Pritchard; two sisters, Betty Hiatt and Sara Kalinich; and a brother, Erle Speer. She is survived by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Kaye (Jerry) Thompson of West Virginia; a son, Kurt (Lynn) Pritchard of Maryland; six grandsons, Charlie and Wes Pritchard, Kurt, Seth, and Nate Jesse, and Steve Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Isabela, Eva, Kade, and Violet; two sisters, Doris (Norman) Mitchell and Elinor Kalinich. Marian will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
