Marie Rushing, 67, of Shannon Hills went to be with the Lord Friday, October 21st, 2011. She was born on August 24th, 1944. She retired from Levi Strauss. Memaw as she was known, was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, who was very devoted to her family of brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many others, including her unborn first great grandbaby who will arrive in early 2012.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband and precious angel, Marvin Rushing; her parents Boyd and Bessie Bryant; her sister Lucille (Workman) Bryant and her brother Freelon Bryant. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Yvonne McNaughton of Bryant and Paula Andrews (Jimmy) of Shannon Hills; three grandchildren Holly (Browning) Moore (Nicholas), Michael Browning, Junior and Stacy Snyder; her sister Carol Marcum (John) of Breeding West Virginia; her brothers Jim Bryant of North Little Rock and Freddie Bryant (Pansy) of Fort Gay, West Virginia and a host of extended family and friends.
The staff at Baptist Home Health and Hospice provided great care to Marie during her fight to overcome cancer. She lived by the motto "I'll die trying" and everyone who supported her in her battle could see her live up to that every day.
When she was first diagnosed with cancer, she asked her oncologist, Dr. Mariann Harrington to never give up hope but to always be open and honest. Dr. Harrington kept her commitment and mother knew she was in the best medical hands and was so appreciative of the love and support shown by Dr. Harrington as well as her other doctors. They never gave up hope. Mother referred to Dr. Harrington as her personal angel. Now she is with the almighty healer, pain free, cancer free and with her most precious angel of all; her husband Marvin.
Graveside services will be on Monday, October 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 23rd at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home,10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, AR 72002 (501)455-1067.
