DWYER, Marie E. (Hallissey)
Marie Elizabeth Dwyer of Atria Hamilton Heights, West Hartford, the beloved wife of the late William J. Dwyer retired captain, Hartford Fire Department entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Marie was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret Mahoney Hallissey. She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School Class of 1936. Upon graduation Marie was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company until her marriage in 1939. She was a dedicated member of the Hartford Democratic Town Committee. Marie's greatest joy in life was her husband and family. She leaves her four children, William Jr. of Newington and Harwich, MA, Thomas (Lorna), Neil (Brenda) of West Hartford and Sheila (Glenn) Farley of Wallingford (formerly of Cheshire). She also leaves five grandchildren: Sean, Robert and Matthew Dwyer, Carol Cholewa and Kaitlyn Farley and seven great-grandchildren. Marie was predeseased by her brothers Neil and Edward Hallissey, daughter-in-law Mary Dwyer and her grandson Ryan Farley. Many thanks to the nurses and aides at Atria for their kindness and excellent care given to our mother. Thank you to Laura, Mary and Jim from the Masonic Care Partners and to mom's private duty caregivers throughout her last two years Marcie, Angela, Elizabeth, Tracey, Victoria and Gwen. A sincere heartfelt thank you to a very special caregiver and friend Debrakaye, who cared for our mother with such love, kindness, laughter, song, prayer and respect. God bless you! Molloy Funeral Home, in West Hartford, is in charge of arrangements. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Interment following the mass at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. There will be no calling hours.
