In death, as in life, when God called Marie O'Bryan, she came running with no hesitation. She was going home. In a quick flash, she left this earth and into the loving embrace of Gods eternal glory forever. So we celebrate; who she was in life, who she is in Christ, and the fulfillment of the promises He gives each of us. Marie died December 27, 2012 at Bowling Green Medical Center of injuries from a car accident. She was born October 11, 1937 in Shreveport Louisiana. She was raised and greatly loved by her grandmother, whom she affectionately called Big Mama. She moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1940, graduated from Fern Creek High School in 1955, and married Charles Eugene O'Bryan in 1956. Together they raised two children. In 1972, she and her family moved to Owensboro, and she took a job at the Owensboro Public Schools where she served at the Board of Education for 27 years. She was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church where she ministered to the community, through choir, Faithful Ladies Class, and outreach missions. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Eugene O'Bryan; a son, Craig (and Juli) O'Bryan of Owensboro; a daughter, Joanie O'Bryan of Bowling Green; four grandsons, Corey and Caleb Flaspoehler of Los Angeles, Ca. and Chris and Nick O'Bryan, of Lexington, Ky. Visitation will be held at the James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro on Sunday, December 30, from noon to 6 p.m. On Monday, December 31, there will be visitation at 10 am and services at 11 am, both at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Hwy. 56. The family asks that any donations submitted in Marie's memory go to the Lottie Moon Mission Offering, Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, 519 W. Byers Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42303 or to The Center for Courageous Kids, 1501 Burnley Road, Scottsville, KY 42164 (online at www.courageouskids.org).
