Marie Rita (Richard) Cardin, 86, passed Sunday April 3rd 2011 in her daughter Susan's home with the caring support of Affinity Hospice of Life. She was surrounded by all of her loving family and her best friend Alfred, her devoted husband of 67 years. She leaves her daughters Susan Flynn and Mary Ann Martin and her husband Stephen from California, her sons Thomas and his wife Heather of Maine and Robert and his wife Patricia of Sutton. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Holly and her husband Peter McNeil, Hannah Cardin, Meghan Flynn, Brooke Cardin, Laura and her husband Stephen Cenedella, Katelyn Rose Flynn, Justin, Jason and Taylor Martin. She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Elijah and Gretel McNeil who brought her so much joy. Rita was also predeceased by her two brothers Leo and Joseph Richards. Mrs. Cardin was born November 17, 1924 in Grafton the daughter of the late Edmond and Margaret (Hebert) Richard and lived all her life in Grafton until recently moving to Westborough with her daughter Susan. She graduated from Grafton High School and The Worcester School of Business Science and was employed in the office at Melville Shoe in Worcester. She married the love of her life Alfred and they raised their four children in Grafton. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. James Catholic Church and a member of its prayer group. Rita was a woman of faith and was totally devoted to her family. She was also a wonderful example of love to all who knew her. The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to The Haiti Mission of Rev. John Henault O.M.I. Haiti Mission, 29 Blackstone St. Sutton MA 01590 or St. James Church Memorial Fund 89 Main St. South Grafton MA 01560.. Funeral & Calling Hours A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday April 8th at 1: pm in St. James Church 89 Main St. (Rt. 122A) in South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. All are invited to calling hours Thursday April 7th from 4 to 7 pm at The Roney Funeral Home North Grafton Chapel 152 Worcester St. North Grafton.
