Marie R. Dennett, age 97 of Marquette, died on Thursday morning, June 9, 2011at her residence, Brookridge Heights Assisted Living. Marie was born in Marquette on June 17, 1913, a daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Anderson) Reichel, Sr. She resided in Marquette her entire life. Marie loved Marquette and Lake Superior. One of the joys of her life was driving around the "Island". Marie attended St. Peter's Grade School and was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School. She worked as a stenographer for many years, most of them with Lawrence Scudder & Co. CPA firm. She was a devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Marie is survived by her son, Robert F. (Janet) Dennett and daughter, Kathryn L. (Robert) Toohill; loving and grateful aunt of David Raikko and his wife, Lois; beloved grandmother of 8, J. Marie, Michael and Thomas Dennett, Carol Munsch, Kathleen Toohill, Robert Toohill, Jr., Andrew H. Toohill, and Patrick L. Toohill; great grand mother of 11and great, great grandmother of 1. Also surviving are two nephews and one niece. Preceding her in death besides her parents were her husband, Harold F. Dennett; her sisters, Elizabeth (Frank) Sherry, and Grace (Harold) Raikko, and a brother, Charles (Eileen) Reichel Jr. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Larry VanDamme officiating. Visitation will be held one our prior to the Mass at the church with burial to follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David, Eric and Aaron Raikko, Robert J. Toohill, Sr., Robert J. Toohill, Jr., Patrick Toohill, and Thomas Dennett. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to consider the Salvation Army or the St. Michael Church Memorial Fund in Marie's memory. Marie's family would like to thank the caring staff at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Facility and U.P. Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care of Marie.
