A lifelong Stockton resident, Marijean was born to Elpha and Ben Cassidy on January 9, 1924 and passed away suddenly on September 20, 2011 at the age of 87.
She was a loving wife, proud mother, devoted grandmother and attentive friend. Marijean will be missed by her children Judy Ospital, Francene Tabak (Stewart), Bernie Rea (Linda), Tom Rea (Amy), her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marijean had many wonderful friends – young and old. The family wishes to thank these friends for all they did for her – meals, grocery shopping, household repairs, invitations, visits and phone calls.
The Catholic faith brought her comfort and strength. She was a firm believer in the power of prayer and was always ready to pray for others, help finding lost items or even for good parking spaces. Many of her prayers were to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Padre Pia and Saint Anthony with whom she felt a special bond.
She is no longer in pain and is reunited with those she missed so dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Rea (1991), her son John H. Rea, Jr. (2008) and her brothers Bernard and Frank Cassidy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St, Stockton, CA
Committal will be at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery
Marijean's family suggests memorial contributions in her memory be made to the American Cancer Discovery Shop, 207 E. Alpine Avenue, Stockton, Ca 95204.
