Marilyn D. Alber, 66, passed away and into the waiting arms of her son, Todd, on Monday, February 6, 2012. Born Marilyn Diane Lough on November 23, 1945, she grew up on her parents farm near Rochester, Indiana, graduated from Richland Center High School and attended Ball State University. On October 23, 1964, Marilyn and Phillip Alber married and together built their life and family in Fort Wayne. Marilyn completed her degree at Indiana University and worked in insurance and finance for several years. In 1982, she established Alber & Associates, Inc., a professional resume consultation and composition firm, committed to serving her clients for 30 years. Marilyn loved her family, her dogs and her home, was an avid NBA and loyal (obsessed?) Indiana Pacers fan, enjoyed music, writing, boating and fishing at the lake, bluebird watching in her backyard, and was extremely proud of her granddaughter Kayla's high school achievements, artistic talent and college path. Marilyn is survived by a close, caring family, devoted husband of 47 years, Phillip Stephen Alber, cherished daughter Amy Diane Alber, precious granddaughter Kayla Marie Diane Alber all of Fort Wayne, mother Orpha H. Lough of Rochester, IN, sisters Betty Myers of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Pat (Bill) Rogers of Phoenix, AZ, sister-in-law Ann Lough of Culver, IN as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, in-laws and Diana Patterson, her close friend and business associate for the past 27 years. Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Todd Stephen Alber on August 9, 2011, father Greshem F. Lough and brother Greshem Monte Lough. Service is 2 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road with calling one hour prior, Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Calling is Friday, February 10, 2012, from 3 pm to 5 pm & 7 pm to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to the local SPCA or National Kidney Foundation.
