Marilyn K. Martin Mathes, 57 of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at her home. Marilyn was born on July 7, 1955 in Granite City, IL., a daughter to Kenneth and Jean (Stayton) Martin. Marilyn had worked for Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO., for many years. She enjoyed working on her computer and making crafts, especially ceramic items. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Martin and daughter, Emily Mathes. Marilyn is survived by her loving mother, Jean Martin of Granite City, IL; adoring daughter, Heather A.M. (Sean) Mathes Briggs of Granite City, IL; two dear brothers, Dale (Kim) Martin of Granite City, IL and Mitch (Cathy) Martin of Highland, IL; two wonderful grandchildren; Kennidy and James Briggs; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation: friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd. Granite City, IL. In celebration of her life, funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
