Marilyn Louise (Kapsch) Imming died on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA from lung cancer. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. Graveside and committal services will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at Mount Zion Cemetery, in Fonda, IA. Born in Jolly, IA in 1937, Marilyn attended school in Fonda, IA and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School there in 1955. On November 12, 1955 she married Herb Imming. Their marriage was blessed by four daughters whom they raised on a farm just outside of Fonda. In 1994, they retired from farming and moved to Waukee, IA to be closer to family. Together Herb and Marilyn managed the Candle Ridge Apts in Waukee. Marilyn also worked as the head cook and daycare provider at The Children's Place daycare center until Jan. 2007. She then worked as a sub in the school lunch program for the Waukee school district as well as volunteering many hours for the local food pantry and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. One of her greatest joys was the hugs and love she received from the children at the daycare center and schools. Marilyn's final gift was providing tender loving care to Jason, Tammy, Ty and Schipper Sanders. She will be remembered, most of all, as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn will be celebrated and missed by her daughters, Debra (Larry) Peterson of Creston, IA, Rebecca (Julio) Jimenez of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kate (Brian) Boettcher of Waukee, IA, and Cindy (John) McCartan also of Waukee; and her eight grandchildren, Brett and Keith Peterson, Brandon Jimenez, Josh, Nate and Brittany Boettcher, and Daniel and Madalyn McCartan. Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Herb; and her only sibling, Sr. Marilyn Kapsch. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to either: St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee; or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.ARRANGEMENTS BY ILES FUNERAL HOMES - WESTOVER CHAPEL.
