Powers, Marjorie Ellen (Baker), 83, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2011. She was born on March 15, 1928 in Hominy, Oklahoma to her parents, Walter and Opal. Marjorie was the oldest of 5 children. She married Ralph Powers in Altamont, KS on August 1, 1948. She was a longtime resident of Wichita, Kansas for 60 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She later worked at Life Insurance Company of Kansas until retirement. Marjorie was a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. She was an accomplished pianist and a soloist for weddings and funerals; she also enjoyed singing in the church choir. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Christine Baker; and daughter-in-law, Janice Powers. Marjorie will be remembered by her loving husband of 63 years, Ralph; children, Mike & Julie Powers, Sharon & Doug Overstake, David & Pat Powers, Ronald Powers, Judy & Tim Ridder all of Wichita, KS; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bill & Delores Baker of Wichita, KS, Evelyn & Al Smith of Cottonwood, MN, Walter Jr. & Pat Baker of Tucson, AZ. Visitation: Wednesday, 5 - 8 pm. Funeral: 10 am, Thursday, both at Lakeview Funeral Home. In honor of Marjorie's great-granddaughter, Madison Wheeler, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers, to Levy Special Education Center, 400 N. Woodchuck, Wichita, KS 67212.
