Marjorie Viola Hooten, 97, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Ft. Madison.
She was born on November 15, 1914 in Farmington, Iowa to Grant and Sadie Crown Slee. On September 19, 1931 she married Delmar A. Hooten in Fairfield, IA; he passed away on September 11, 1998. Marjorie was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ft. Madison Senior Citizens and AARP. Marjorie enjoyed making and collecting dolls, crocheting, reading and talking to her family and friends on facebook.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Diane) Hooten of Des Moines and David (Barbara) Hooten of Rolla, MO; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Carol Mueller, a great grandson, Justin; six brothers and four sisters.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:30 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Bill Willis officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
