Mrs. Marjorie Powell Alexander, age 91 of McDonough, Georgia passed away December 15, 2011. She was born in Swan Lake, Kentucky, the youngest of 13 children of the late William W. and Mollie Matilda McNeil Powell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol R. Alexander. She served her country in the United States Army during WWII as an Army Combat Nurse under the leadership of General George Patton. She volunteered at the VA Hospital in Ft, Thomas, Kentucky where she was a resident until she and her husband retired to the Tampa Bay area of Florida in 1979. She was an avid golfer and member of the Highland Country Club and led a very social life. Survivors include her children, Carole (Bob) Hitch of McDonough, Georgia, Roy Alexander of Southgate, Kentucky, Lynn (John) Conlon of Lexington, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. A private memorial service will be held in Kentucky and inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
