Mark Stephen Hendricks passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Mark bravely battled pancreatic cancer for almost a year with dignity, humor and the love and support of family, friends and co-workers. He was born on January 18, 1956 in KC, MO. Mark attended Bishop Miege High School, earned a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration from Kansas University and completed his MBA at Rockhurst College. His career began with Hallmark Cards, followed by Yellow Freight Systems, Paragon Electric in Blue Springs, MO and Midwest Cabinet in Ottawa, KS. His most recent employment was with MD Management in Mission, KS. Mark was always ready for a friendly political debate and rarely missed cheering for "his" KU Basketball team. He will be most remembered for his sharp wit and his mentoring to guide others towards success. His home was truly his sanctuary.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Therese (Dellasega) Hendricks; his father, Gene Hendricks and his sister, Laura Hoskins. Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; sister, Martha Hendricks of St. Joseph, MO; three stepchildren, James Anderson and his wife Hisae of San Diego, CA, Lorinda Hunt and her husband Johnny of Paola, KS, Kristine Anderson of Stilwell, KS; four step grandchildren, Kammeron Stein and her husband Brent, Kelsi, Joshua and Ashley Hunt; one step great-grandchild, Jordan Stein and nephews, Jacob and Sam Hoskins of Salina, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM, prior to the service.
