Abbott, Mark Ivan
58 of Rives Junction, MI went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home under the loving care of his family and Allegiance Hospice. He was the son of Ivan and Barbara (Hartman) Abbott born January 14, 1954 in Jackson, MI. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathy (Hershberger) Abbott; son, Alex Abbott; and his faithful cat, Reggie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, David and Paul Abbott. Mark was a 1972 graduate of Northwest High School. He retired from the Jackson County Sheriff Department as an Animal Control Officer after 10 years of service. Mark enjoyed fishing with Alex and watching him play baseball. A celebration of his life will be held at Leslie First Baptist Church, 202 E. Bellevue St., Leslie, MI, Wednesday, June 20, at 11:00 A.M.; Pastor Toby Teague officiating. According to his wishes, cremation will follow. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Allegiance Hospice and their staff. Memorial contributions for those who wish may be made to the Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202.
Visitation - Tuesday, June 19, at the WATSON FUNERAL CHAPEL from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, June 20, at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
