Marlin Roberts Smith Sr., 95, a 50-year resident of Annapolis, died January 21 of natural causes.
Marlin was born September 7, 1916 in Baltimore. He was a career Air Force
officer and
achieved the rank of
Lt. COL. He was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Army Commendation Medal.
Marlin was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hines Smith, who died in 1979.
He is survived by his son, Marlin R. Smith, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Annapolis; two daughters, Dorothy Willey and Janice Smith, both of Annapolis; sister, Margaret Steffens of La Plata; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, January 26 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis where services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday February 22, 2012 at 11 A.M..
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
