Martha Ann Bannister, 71 of Newkirk, OK died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. Chaplain Norman Reeves will officiate. Friends may view from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Martha was born December 4, 1937 to Nophel Estell and Mary Elizabeth (Cundell) Estell in Orleans, IN. She attended Arkansas City schools as a young girl. On February 27, 1976 she married Bill R. Bannister in Security, CO and the couple made their home in Newkirk, OK. Martha was employed as cashier for the Kaw Nation Southwind Casino. She is survived by her three daughters, Syrilda Mill and husband, Noel of Newkirk, OK, Jennifer Jones and husband, Richard of Arkansas City; Deanna Martin and her husband, Forrest of Apple Valley, MN; two sons, Clint Banister, Jr. of Cedar Vale and Clifford Banister and wife, Joyce of Newkirk, OK; half sisters, Daphne Cundell and Sheilla Ferro; half Brother, Jack Estell of Arkansas City; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2003 and a half brother, Carl Estell.
