Martha Catherine (Grzeskowiak) LaMont, 92, Bismarck, formally of Dickinson, was called Home on June 26, 2012, at St. Gabriel's Community surrounded by the wonderful CNA's that cared for her every day. A celebration of life will be held at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, on Thursday, June 28, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm with a rosary from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Mandan at 10:30 a.m Friday, June 29. Burial will follow the funeral at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Martha was born on June 25, 1920, in Minto, ND, on a Farmstead to Charles Grzeskowiak and Mary (Kennedy) Grzeskowiak. She graduated from Minto High School in 1936. Martha met the love of her life, Gordon Mitchel LaMont, and they married on January 18, 1941, in Grafton, ND. Martha worked for Fisher's Dime Store in Grafton as one of her very first jobs. After moving to Fargo with her family, Martha was hired at Northstar Anex on 13th Street as a Store Supervisor. Then working at the Stop n Go store in Fargo for many years, Martha was offered a managing position at the Moorhead Stop n Go. Moving to Dickinson in 1970, Martha enjoyed working at Western Dairies as a Secretary and later as a Social Worker Specialist at Stark County Social Services, retiring from Stark County at least 3 different times because she just couldn't leave her favorite co-workers :) As any Grandma, Martha doted over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always had a smile on her face when they would come to visit, with a scale at the door hoping they gained at least 10 pounds from her cooking before they left :) One of Martha's joys in life was to travel up north to Minto and Grafton, ND, to visit her friends and relatives to reminisce about the "good ol' days"! Crocheting afghan's for her kids, grandkids and friends was a favorite past time that brought her so much happiness and gratitude. Martha is survived by her children: Sandra Borg, Mandan; Diane LaMont (daughter-in-law), Mandan; Eileen (Ronald) Sauer, Buffalo, ND; Larry (Jane) LaMont, Edina, MN; Patricia (Ronald) Grimson, Minot, ND; Janice (Gary) Mindt, Mandan, ND; Sharon & Parker (grandson) LaMont, Bismarck, ND; sister-in-laws, Betty "Pudgie" (Wally) LaMont LeBerge; Judy (LeRoy) LaMont Kamrowski; 13 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren and 1 very special Great Great Granchild on the way; and many nieces, nephews and cousins she so adored. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, her dear sister Grace "Tootsie" and brother-in-law Charles "Laddie" Norton; her brother Charles (Pete) and sister-in-law Lillian (Billy) Hill Grzeskowiak; sister (in heart) Helene "Helen" Hodges; sister-in-law Peggy LaMont Ellefson; brother-in-laws Ray "Pee Wee" and James "Jimmy" LaMont; brother-in-law Leroy Kamrowski; and her son Kenneth Dean LaMont, who never left her heart in 2 years. In lieu of flowers, Martha's family is requesting donations to St. Gabriel's Community, 4580 Coleman Street, Bismarck, ND 58503, to help keep this wonderful care facility going strong for years to come.
