Martha Jo Blass, age 81 passed away peacefully on Monday January 26, 2009 surrounded by her children. She was raised in Kansas by loving parents, and moved to Texas in 1946 after her marriage. She raised her children in Texas City and League City. After the death of her husband, Maurice L. Blass, she moved to Austin to be close to her dear sister-in-law, Betty Berry. She devoted her life to her family and children. After moving to Austin, she worked for the Texas Water Commission, retiring in 1996. Her later years were spent enjoying life with her friends, her children, and her precious dog, Babeo. She is preceded in death by her husband and her mother Anna Berry. She is survived by her daughter Kelly Ann Weiner, her sons Casey and Jeff Blass; her grandchildren Jason and Samantha Stevenson, and Devin and Aubrey Blass; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation and viewing will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of her life at 6:00 p.m., both at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Burial will occur at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009 in League City, Texas at Forest Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Austin, the Alzheimer's Association, or AIDS Services of Austin.
