Martha Mundy Sayer, 88, wife of the late Charles Heyward Sayer, Sr., of Abbeville died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. She was born in Abbeville to the late Robert & Lucia Gordon Mundy. She graduated from Sharon High School and was employed as a seamstress with Abbeville Shirt Makers. Mrs. Sayer was a member of Warrenton Presbyterian Church. Dedicated to her home, she especially enjoyed sewing and cooking. Loving her cats and dogs, she was also an avid reader and sports enthusiast. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Gordon Mundy, Richard Mundy, Donald Mundy and John Albert Mundy and two sisters, Julia Mundy and Mary Frances 'Pat' Bader. She is survived by two sons, Charles H. Sayer, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, and Chris Sayer and his wife, Tina; three daughters, Marilyn S. Moore, and her husband, Wayne, Julie S. Young, and Karen S. Bernard and her husband, Myron; eleven grandchildren, Myron Bernard, Jr., Maggie Gross, Katie Adams, Erin Marler, Haley Sayer, Charlie Sayer, Lucas Sayer, Hannah Beth Sayer, Austin Addison, Travis Young and Aubrey Young; and five great-grandchildren, Ayden Bernard, Reid Gross, Jacob Marler, William Marler and Shelby Adams. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00AM on Friday, July 6, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Warrenton Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family is at their respective homes. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Sayer, may be sent to AAMC Foundation, 420 Thompson Circle, Abbeville, SC 29620 or the Warrenton Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 191 Watts Road, Abbeville, SC 29620.
