Marvin M. West, age 85 of Springfield, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 am in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Woodard officiating. Interment will follow in Robertson County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 7:00 pm and Monday from 8:00 am until the hour of service. Mr. West was born June 16, 1925 in Robertson County to the late Maurice and Eula Moore West. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a retired supervisor with the City of Springfield Gas Department. In addition to his parents, a twin brother, Maurice West, Jr.; a sister, Obera Vaughan; and a half-brother, Wilton West; preceded him in death.He is survived by his wife, Betty West of Springfield; son, William West of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Tom Stroud of Cross Plains, Mary V. Hodge of Greenbrier, and Brenda and Tim Spelce of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Michael Stroud, Leslie (Josh) Hall, Kara Hodge (Jorge) de Guadamuz, Allyson Spelce, and Megan Spelce; and great grandchildren, Dylan Stroud and Logan Hall.
