Mary Alice Stone, 88, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday October 27, 2010 at Brentwood Assisted Living. She was born September 13, 1922 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Emil W Knoll and Edna H (Rehlander) Knoll. She lived in the LaPorte area, all of her life. Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Orient Chapter OES, LaPorte Chapter OES. Mary was a Sunday school teacher at the church and sang in the choir for thirty years. She enjoyed working at the voting polls and at the courthouse. Mary also enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, nature and watching birds. On October 10, 1942, in LaPorte, IN, she married Gordon D. Stone who preceded in death December 14, 1985. She is survived by her daughter - Katherine (Mark) Koch of La Porte, IN; seven grandchildren; one step grandchild; nine great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren and the Brentwood Assisted Living family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Michael Stone. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Monday, November 1, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 10:00 am until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday November 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Interment will follow at the Carmel Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
