Mary Anderson
December 19, 1919 – June 17, 2011
Mrs. Mary Alna Jarman Anderson of Huntsville, AL, died Friday, June 17, 2011. She was 91. She was born December 19, 1919, near Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of Rev. George Small Jarman and Mary Tennessee Jackson Jarman. An accomplished pianist, she frequently performed in churches with her father’s pastorates in Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee. She made an early decision for Christ and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville for many years. Mrs. Anderson was a magna cum laude graduate of Carson-Newman College and did graduate work at Peabody College in Nashville. Before her marriage she taught high school history and English in Kingston, TN, and at Byars Hall High School in Covington, TN.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Mr. Audie Anderson of Huntsville; daughter Ms. Beth Biez of Huntsville, son Mr. Mark Anderson of Milwaukee, WI; daughter Ruth Anderson Chisolm and son-in law William D. Chisolm III and grandchildren Sarah and Andrew Chisolm, all of Columbia, SC.
Services will be at Valhalla Funeral home chapel on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at 11 am.
