Mary B. Haas, formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away early on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, in Sebring, Florida, after an extended illness. Mary was born in Bremen, Indiana, on March 29, 1935, to John and Eunice (Wray) Stoller. She graduated from Bremen High School and moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she attended The Sherwood Music School to study piano. She lived and worked in Chicago until her marriage to Fred Haas in 1957. Fred and Mary eventually settled in Plymouth, where they lived until retiring to Sebring, in 1994. Mary attended Ancilla College, after her children started school, and completed her degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University, South Bend, Indiana. She was elected and served as Marshall County Clerk and then County Auditor from 1975 until 1991. Mary also served as President of the Indiana State Auditor's Association and as Chair of the Marshall County Democrat Party. She was a long time member of Trinity Methodist Church and was active in Eastern Star, the Eagles, Moose Lodge, American Legion, and VFW Auxiliaries. She was also a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. After retirement, Mary enjoyed playing golf, socializing with friends, and watching Notre Dame Football. Mary is survived by her husband, Fred Haas of Sebring; their daughter Susan Haas of Seattle, Washington; their son Steve (Cindy East) Haas of Noblesville, Indiana; her grandsons; Stephen ( Molly McShane) Haas of Fishers, Indiana, Andy Haas of Chicago, and Paul Haas of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and the Haas family brothers and sisters-in-law, their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
