Mary Belle Smith Funeral services for Mary Belle Smith, 79, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Longview Ford Chapel with Reverend David English officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Mrs. Smith passed away Friday morning in a local hospital. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mary Belle was born on December 16, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas to Howard and Edrie Althouse. She worked as an Employment Supervisor for the Texas Employment Commission for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Longview and enjoyed volunteering at the ROC. She also loved serving others in her community through Meals on Wheels. Mary Belle was preceded in death by her husband, Don L. Smith; her parents; and her cousins, Marie Murphy and Annette Boyd of Alto, Texas. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kevin Don Smith and Kelly Mark Smith and his wife Donna; her grandsons, Jarrod Smith, Jordan Smith, and Patrick Smith; her step-granddaughters Laura Ciardetti and Tracy Smith; sister-in-law Peggy Brown and husband Larry of Longview; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family request that memorial donations in Mary Belle Smith's name be made to the Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org, or to the Alzheimers Association at www.ahaf.org.
