Mary Bost Herbert, 71, of the 600 block of Charlecote Dr., Virginia Beach, VA, died Feb. 1, 2012, in a local hospital. She was born in Morganton, NC and was a retired assistant Principal with the Virginia Beach Public Schools. Mary is survived by her husband, John A. Herbert of Virginia Beach; mother, Lee Lee Bost of Lenoir, NC; sister, Nancy McLaine and her husband Gary and their daughter Jackie and her children Taylor and Lindsey, all of Lenoir, NC; and nephew, Jason McClaine of Lenoir, NC; brother, Joe Bost and his wife Helen of Lenoir, NC and their daughter Jody Grazier and husband Matt and their daughter Ava, all of Raleigh, NC. Mary is also survived by an adopted son, Chaplain Mike Hardin of Norfolk, VA and her beloved Akita K-9 son and Brando Herbert of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 stepchildren, Beth Thompson and husband George and their sons Cory and Cody, all of Wisconsin and Scott A. Herbert and wife and their daughters, Melissa and Tristan all of Culpepper, VA. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack L. Bost. A special thank you to Mark and Roche' Hinsen of Virginia Beach and J. Michael Boyce and Louis Jones of Hollomon-Brown for their personal care and support. Their love and kindness will never be forgotten. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel by Pastor Michael Hardin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Following the services here, Mary will be taken to the Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd., S.E., Lenoir, NC 28645 where arrangements are pending. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir, NC. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
