My Grandma was a wonderful person and there are not enough words to even do her memory justice in this small space. She was full of love and kindness and I hope that I can carry on in her spirit everyday.

Aunt Mary,
I always enjoyed the family get togethers at your house and have treasured those memories through my life. You were an amazing individual and will be missed dearly. I am thankful for the last visit we had with you and will remember the memories we shared. Love always!

When Dewey broke his leg and I took his homework to his home from Our Lady of Fatima; Mary was always kind and gracious with a special food or beverage which always made me feel special. Later in years when Dewey, Frank J. and I played hooky from St.Pius and went to the state fair grounds close to my house; I broke my leg jumping off hay stacks and Dewey helped me back home. Later, fearing Mary and Ralph would never want to talk to me again she again treated me with kindness and perhaps a sort of bond as both her son and I broke our legs growing up. Later in years I would see her at church or when we were at Dewey's rosary when he passed......... In her grief she sincerely wanted to know how I was doing and treated me like their was know one else in the room. Mary Paez had the most friendly eyes and unique kindness, I will never forget. She was a very "Special" person and she will have special treatment in heaven.

My Aunt Mary was more than a relative, godmother (to me) or a best friend. She was a shining example for all of us. It was so easy to ask myself "What would Aunt Mary do or say in this particular situation"? I knew the answer immediately because she was so good and wise to all of us.

My fondest memories of my Auntie Mary were the big family get together we would have for birthdays, holiday’s or just a Sunday afternoon at 309 N. Morningside. Auntie Mary made the best potato salad, red chili beans, ham, and ambrosia with little marshmallows. Charlene, Mary Louise, Auntie Carrie, and my mom would all bring other pot luck dishes. The men would sit on the porch, or in the back by the garden, drink beer iced in the aluminum tub.

The men would sit on the porch, or in the back by the garden, drink beer iced in the aluminum tub. The bigger boys would play basketball in the driveway and the younger kids would play hide and seek, tag, run outside until dark or we just pooped out! Growing up as an almost only child, my brother Richard 20 years older and sister Carol 12 years older, were gone when I was still little, so my parents took me everywhere with them which meant fishing every weekend. On occasion, I was able to spend the night with a family of 5 kids at Uncle Ralph and Auntie Mary’s house. I was amazed at how Auntie always had comic books, magazines, crosswords, games and puzzles on the coffee table! Auntie’s house was always busy, yet organized and no yelling just calm. Auntie Mary would make whatever you wanted for breakfast and lunch plus we would have Kool-Aid from the neatest orange shaped plastic glasses ever!! It was like being in heaven having all those kids around doing homework, studying, reading books, and the newspaper so different than my house. Auntie loved being a mom and grandma! She was a good sister and a good daughter too! She was so proud of her family!
After my mom passed away Auntie Mary became my second mom! She called me on my birthday, every Christmas and New Year’s Eve I would call her when I needed a shoulder to cry on or someone to laugh with, when I became a grandma, or just needed to talk and she always listened, gave me advice, but she never judged me, just loved me unconditionally.
Auntie you were a wonderful second mom, and incredible Auntie! I will love you always, I was truly blessed to have you in my life, I will miss you, and I hope I am a better person, a better mom and grandma because of you!

My Grandma Mary was thebest Grandma ever! I remember when I was in elementary school my sister and i would walk to her house afetrschool. She always waited outside in front of her house so she could see us walking over. She always had cookies in her hand when we got to her. She was full of love.
