MECHANICSBURG- Mary E. Kitzmiller, a resident at Messiah Village passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Village. She was born in Halifax, PA, the daughter of the late I. Walter and Pauline Shammo Mattis. Mary was very active during her life as she taught Sunday School and was a choir member at Salem UCC in Elizabethville and she volunteered at the library at the former Elizabethville High School. She was a member of the Patriotic Order of America Lodge in Elizabethville and a current member of Chapel Hill UCC in Camp Hill. She was the widow of Elwood C. Kitzmiller and also preceded in death by two brothers Benjamin and William Mattis. Survivors include a daughter and son-in law Penelope & Ray Erney of Mechanicsburg, a son and daughter-in-law Elwood & LaRae Kitzmiller, Jr. of Dillsburg, a daughter and son-in law Donna & Andy Ohrel of Columbia, 6 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, a sister Sara Miller and a brother Paul Mattis both of Halifax. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18 from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Elizabethville. Services will begin on Saturday at 11:30 am with Rev. Galen Russell officiating. Entombment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery Mausoleum in Elizabethville.
