COLUMBIA Graveside service for Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Kaminer Porter, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Woodridge Mausoleum. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street is assisting the family.
Born in Columbia on October 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Drafts Kaminer and Eula Rish Kaminer. She was raised by her beloved grandmother, "Mollie" Harmon Kaminer from age 15. Betty graduated from Dreher High School in the Class of 1951. On April 11, 1952 she married N.G. Porter, Jr., and they had 3 girls during their 37 years of marriage.
Surviving are daughters, Debra Porter Burton of Rock Hill, Donna Porter Goldberg and Diane Porter Reaves, both of Columbia; a sister Julia Kaminer Long of Columbia; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, all of whom were the joys of her life. She was predeceased by her husband N.G. Porter, Jr; sisters, Billie Jean Kaminer Caldwell and Barbara Kaminer. She was a devoted wife, and loving mother, who always put her children and others before herself. She was an avid Gamecock fan and an incredible role model for those in her life.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brad Word for the care he provided her as her physician and friend. They would also like to thank Dr. Leland McElveen, Dr. Mark Mayson and those caring for her on 8th Averyt at Palmetto Health Baptist.
