STELLA (MARY ESTELA) ARIAS (1944 – 2011)
North Hollywood
On December 6, 1944 a very special soul was born, Stella (Mary Estela) Arias, to Jessie Arias, in Oxnard. On March 24, 2011, a very special light was extinguished here on earth, only to light up the heavens to join her Lord, her beloved Mother Jessie Arias, and her special cousin and Nina, Gloria Castellanos.
Stella passed away in North Hollywood, at Valley Palms Care Center following a six year illness. She was born and raised in Oxnard and attended local schools. Stella loved to watch Laker games, golf and her soap operas. She loved to eat Pollo Loco and her Clementine oranges. Anyone that knew her knows these were her favorites. She learned to play the piano and organ and enjoyed being in local recitals. She had a great sense of humor and was very interested in learning and understanding her every day world. She was always testing her cousin Mary Helen’s brain. She was very brave and courageous in confronting and accepting her terminal illness.
Stella was very grateful to all of her family and friends that provided love, support and acts of kindness throughout her illness. No matter how badly Stella ever felt in her illness, she was always ready to provide prayers that may have been needed by family members or friends. Her special relationship with God made her prayers special.
She is survived by her Cousin, but Sister at Heart, Mary Helen Torres of Camarillo; Cousin Cynthia Holden of Camarillo and numerous extended family members in Ventura and Orange Counties.
Special thanks to her friends Pat, Jessie, Lydia and Juanita for their friendship. Special thanks to the Staff of Valley Palms Care Center for the excellent care and the special relationships they established with Stella.
Stella – you are loved and will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, March 31, with the Vigil service starting at 6:30 pm, at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, April 1, at Santa Clara Mortuary. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
