MARY HELEN CARTER, Liberty, MO died May 9, 2012, with her children by her bedside. Mary Helen was born August 29, 1916 in Green Castle, MO. She was a lifelong homemaker and was very involved in fostering her husband's career and in her children's development. Later she was instrumental in the development of the Northland Symphonic Orchestra, the Liberty Garden Club, and was a 60 year member of the DT Chapter of P.E.O. Mary Helen and husband Warren were among the original organizers of the Liberty Hills Country Club, and contributors to the development of Liberty Hospital to which their gifts and support for the hospital continued throughout their lives. They both served as deacons in the Liberty Disciples of Christ Church. What Mary Helen enjoyed most was being involved in the daily lives of her growing family. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Rolfe and Frankie Hamilton, her husband, Warren Carter in January 2003, and a great-grandson, Landon Peterson. She is survived by her children, Sue Collins and Don Turner, Sam and Jan Carter, R. Eddie and Sandra Carter; grandchildren, Melanie Carter & Jill Sherman, Missy Carter & Brenda Swinney, Melinda and Don Reynolds , Kelley & Todd Hymas, Candi Pendleton, Monty & Trilla Carter, Bobby and Melinda Pendleton, Stacey and Clint Williamson, Kevin Barnes; great-grandchildren Amanda & Jared McGraw, Matthew Barnes, Jennah Irsik, Damon Hymas, Madison & Connor Wood, Alyssa Hymas, Kortney Neiderhauser, Megan Carter, Carlie Sherman, Drake Neiderhauser, Quincey Williamson, Nichole & Zach James, Sammy Peterson; great-great-grandchildren Hailey Barnes, Peyton McGraw, and Kendall James. She is also survived by one of her three sisters, Louise Morgan of Sammamish, Washington. From her meager beginning through the last days of her life, Mary Helen brightened the days and lives of those she came in contact with. Whether her relationship with those she met was for a moment or for a lifetime, her warm sincere personality made her an instant friend to all. At Mary Helen's request there to be no formal services, rather a family memorial/gathering to celebrate her life. Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Liberty Terrace Rehab and Nursing Home for their loving care to our mother.
