Mary Helen (Cissy) Bartlett was born October 2, 1944 in Albuquerque, NM to Joe and Meme Henry. Graham and Cissy were wed at the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque on August 17th, 1969. They had three children, Amanda, and twins Brandon and Ryan. At age 40, she decided it was time to consider a career and went back to UNM and got her bachelors in education and masters in early childhood. She taught kindergarten for 18 years, during which time she was selected to open two new schools. She was widely known for her innovative curriculum and creative and stimulating classroom environment. Cissy joined the Cathedral of St. John in 1983 and she and Graham got involved right away as teachers in the Sunday school kindergarten program for the next ten years. In 1989, Cissy became the wedding coordinator and served God in that position for 24 years. Five years ago, she started doing the flower arrangements for Sunday services and many other special occasions. Everyone in the congregation has enjoyed her floral creations. Cissy's last act in that position was to supervise Christmas 2011's hanging of the greens. Cissy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February 2009. She battled the disease until all options had been exhausted. Cissy leaves behind her husband, Graham; children, Mandy, Brandon and Ryan and seven grandchildren, Beau and Zach McKenna, Blaise, Keagan, and Jacy Bartlett and Amelia and Abigail Nilson-Bartlett. She is survived by her brother Joe and preceded by her brother Robert. While we all mourn her passing, we celebrate the wonderful life of this wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and servant of God. Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John, 318 Silver SW on Wednesday, February 8. In lieu of flowers, the Bartlett family requests donations be made to the St. John's Memorial Fund or to the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation (foundationforwomenscancer.org).
