Mary J. "Jean" Peterson, 91, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday December 7, 2010 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte. She was born January 8, 1919 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Glen O. Ott and Vita C. (Rittenhouse) Ott. Mary had lived in the LaPorte area, all of her life. Mary had worked for American Home Foods for twelve years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church of Union Mills, IN. and Past President of the American Legion Auxilliary Post #434 of Kingsford Heights, Indiana. On May 3, 1941, in LaPorte, IN, she married Aaron R. Peterson who preceded her in death February 7, 2001. She is survived by her three daughters - Sally (Larry) Sparks of La Porte, IN, Susan (John) Satkoski of Union Mills, IN, Candy (John) Hadden of Dalton, GA; twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great great-grandchildren; and one sister - Shirley (Ott) Holtzman of Valparaiso, IN. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Glen Ott, Jr., Jack Ott, two sisters, Margaret Luther and June Baugher. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 1:00 pm, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday December 11, 2010 at 2:30 PM with Rev. John Beehler officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, Indiana.
