Mary Joyce “Joy” Rouse Thomas Tillman, 70, Pascagoula, MS, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 in Pascagoula, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, MS. Joy was retired from Jackson County Chancery Clerk’s Office after many years of service. She was a member of St. Pierre Episcopal Church in Gautier, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Houston (Nora) Rouse, Sr., Aunt Annie Curtis and her brother, Charles “Charlie” Rouse, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Henry Tillman, Pascagoula, MS; treasured mother-in-law, Marie Tillman, Pascagoula, MS; son, Marques M. Thomas, I; daughter, Mary M. Thomas, both of Ocean Springs, MS; three step-daughters: Kim (Greg) Busche, Hattiesburg, MS; Robyn (Colin) James, Phoenix, AZ; Debbie Tillman, Pascagoula, MS; grandson, Marques M. Thomas, II, Ocean Springs, MS; and several beloved step-grandchildren: Danny Smith, Dana (Patrick) Beckham, Walter Freeman, Sophia Freeman, Alli Busche, Britney and Morgan Poole; step-great-grandchildren: Bailey and Andrew Beckham and Summer Elise Smith. She is also survived by many beloved relatives and friends: Dixie Gautier, Choyce May (Chris) Cochran, Elizabeth (Jim) Stewart, Joyce Rouse, Charles “Chuck” H. Rouse, III, Dora Virginia Dees, Charlotte Cannon and many others. She was an active member of the Pascagoula Anola Club; Pascagoula Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Lodge #1120; American Legion Post 160 Ladies Auxiliary; Pascagoula Thursday Two Table Bridge Club; she was also a member of the Ocean Springs Class of ‘57 Monday Lunch Club; she was a past member of the Tri-City Carnival Club. She also enjoyed riding on a party barge, flowers, gardening, traveling and attending football games, along with her other activities. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Pierre’s Episcopal Church or to your favorite charity. Visitation will be Saturday, October 16, 2010, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at St. Pierre Episcopal Church, Gautier, MS. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Her final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Ocean Springs, MS. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home, MS, locally owned and operated.
