Mary Juanita Griffith, 81, passed away January 11, 2011, in her home in Chesapeake, VA. A native of Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Mary Lee. She retired from Richmond Memorial Hospital as a Switchboard Operator. She was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by all. She will always remain in our hearts. She is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, George B. Griffith; four daughters, Barbara Gubich and husband Edward of Bethlehem, PA, Sandra Houseman and husband Steven of Chesapeake, VA, Janis Waltz and husband Thomas of Yorktown, VA and Mary Carrillo and husband Henry of Long Beach, CA; three sons, Dennis Strong and wife Sharon of New Albany, IN, Danny Strong and wife Sharon of Suffolk, VA and Robert Sydnor and wife Janet of York, PA; a sister, Judy Wright and husband Tom of Mechanicsville, VA; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, a sister and a grandchild. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, VA on Saturday at 12 Noon with Rev. William J. Corey, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel is handling the arrangements.
