Mary Lee Custis, 81, of Morris Township, passed away at 11:30 pm, Wednesday July 29th, at Care One At Madison Avenue, Morristown. Born in Lenoir, Caldwell County, NC, on Tuesday, June 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Mamie (Shade) Patterson. She worked as a Private Duty Nurse for over 30 years. She was the widow of James S. Custis. Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Morristown, NJ, serving on the Nursing, Missionary Ministries, Senior Choir, CBC Garden Club, and the Patterson Family Singers. She was also a Member of the Elks Club of Essex County. She is survived by her three daughters Vickey D. Williams and Leverne C. Lewis of Morristown, and Sharen Y. Sims of Jacksonville, FL; one son James E. Jr. and his wife Patricia Lewis of Henderson, NV; one sister Mrs. Minnetter Winfield of Coatesville, PA; two sisters-in-law Josephine Whitman of Detroit, MI, and Lucile Custis of Maryland. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by her son Henry Adonis Lewis.
