Mary Leigh Jacobs Forbish

FORBISH Mary Leigh Jacobs Forbish, born November 3rd, 1924. A native of Holmes County, FL and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died in a local hospital on Friday October 29, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Forbish, her mother, Alice Jacobs, her father George Jacobs and step son John F "Bubba" Forbish. She worked for 25 years at Turner Supply Company of Mobile. She was a member of Government Street Methodist Church, and a member of Hollinger's Island Order of Easter Star #480 for 50 years. She was a 40 year member of the Order of the Daughters of the Nile 109, and also Beaucceants Organization. She was an avid supporter of the ABBA Temple Shrine, the Shriners and Cripple Children's Home, Order of Rainbow For Girls and Order of DeMolay for Boys. She is survived by 1 sister, Addie A. Williams (C. Ray) of Otto, North Carolina, a daughter in law Amber Forbish, Biloxi, MS, 3 nephews: James Neal Cobb (Barbara) of Aiken, S,C,; Gregory Jacobs (Josephine) of Greeley, CO; Adrian Lee Jacobs of Orlando, FL; 3 nieces: Tommye Jane Cauthen (James Allen) of Theodore, AL; Teresa Marie Freeman of Placervillle, CA; and Michelle Lea of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by 2 great-nephews: Thomas Joshua Cauthen of Cohutta, GA, William Jacob Cauthen of Theodore, AL, and 4 great-nieces: Julie Cobb of Aiken, S.C.; Amy Cobb of Columbia S.C.; Emily Cobb of Aiken, S.C.; and Ashley Roman of Charlotte, N.C. She will also be missed by 1 great-great-niece, Theresa Nycole Cauthen of Cohutta, GA; and 2 great-great-nephews Timothy Gonya and Ethan Gonya, both of Aiken, S.C. Mary is also survived by 1 second cousin, Louise Gandy (Bill) of Century, FL. Long-time friends Gene Ganoe of Mobile, AL, and Peggy May of Mobile, AL, will also miss her greatly. Upon the death of her beloved husband, Mary was lovingly cared for by Amber Toncrey Forbish, her daughter-in-law, and her best friend, Mrs. Ann Barnes. The family greatly appreciates the care and consideration given by Mrs. Gertrude Prince, Mrs. Marni Kayer, and Mr. Mark Eiland. Additionally, special appreciation is offered to Mr. John Day Peake, Jr. and the team of Regions Bank and Mr. Gregory Carwie. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Monday November 8, 2010 at 12 noon. Visitation will start at 11 AM Monday. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mobile SPCA, 620 Zeigler Circle West, Mobile, AL 36608.
